If you've ever dreamed of taking charge of a country and making a difference, Democracy 3 might just be the game for you. This highly sophisticated political strategy game allows you to step into the shoes of a president or prime minister, testing your ability to tackle issues such as crime, unemployment, national debt, terrorism, and climate change.
Democracy 3 offers an immersive experience by simulating the motivations, loyalties, and desires of every voter in your virtual country. With a custom-designed neural network, the game models each individual's income, levels of complacency and cynicism, and their memberships in various voting groups, political parties, and pressure groups.
Despite its vast underlying complexity, Democracy 3 features a unique user interface that facilitates visualizing the connections between laws, policies, voters, and situations. The interface presents a simple icon-based view of your country's issues, allowing you to analyze the impacts of your decisions by drilling down into the relationships between policies and voters. For example, you can explore how changes in trade policy affect GDP, unemployment, poverty, crime rates, tourism, and ultimately GDP itself.
The game's voters are simulated with great complexity. Each voter is a combination of different voter groups (21 in total) represented within the game. You may encounter young wealthy liberal socialist commuters or retired conservative religious capitalists among other types. Moreover, voters' identification with these groups can evolve over time based on your policies. With a "focus group" feature, you can examine individual voters and understand how they reached their decision to support or oppose your government.
The policy model in Democracy 3 is highly detailed. Each policy or law comes with a slider that allows for fine-tuning its intensity to achieve the right balance. Equations within the game ensure that as the slider is adjusted, each voter group may react differently to a policy. Some may only show interest if a policy reaches extreme levels, while others may remain indifferent. In addition to the internal dynamics of your country, the game also models the global economy, including credit rating agencies, debt interest levels, and the impact of global events on your nation.
